INDIANPOLIS (AP) _ Andy Huegli completed eight of 12 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead Valparaiso to a 38-20 win over Butler.

Huegli connected with John Schulte on an 80-yard pass for the Crusaders' (4-1, 2-0 Pioneer Football League) first score in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs (3-3, 0-2) got on the board when Ryan Zimpleman had a 49-yard run and a seven-yard run that set up Dale Jennings' nine-yard touchdown run 49 seconds into the game.

Valparaiso broke the 7-7 tie with 5:22 left in the third quarter when Steve Clancy ran 15 yards on the option.

Mark Kaiser recovered a fumble by Steve Scola at the Butler 15-yard line to set up the Crusaders' second score of the quarter. On the first play of the drive, Clancy completed his only pass of the day to Matt Junia for the score to make it a 20-7 Valparaiso.

The Bulldogs struck back on a one-play drive of their own to make it 20-14 going into the final stanza.

Mike Goletz intercepted a Valpo pass with 9:05 remaining to start the Bulldogs' final scoring drive.

The Crusaders then scored on their next three possessions to put the game out of reach.

Kaiser scored the second of the Crusaders' three touchdowns in the quarter. With 5:55 left in the game, Scola threw a pass intended for Zimpleman, but Kaiser snatched it mid-air and ran 46 yards to score.

Zimpleman had 94 yards on 13 carries for Butler and Scola was 12-of-29 passing for 256 yards. Schulte finished the day with 118 yards on four receptions for the Crusaders.
