VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) _ Valparaiso's running game was too much for San Diego in a 14-7 victory Saturday.

Steve Clancy led the Crusaders (6-1, 3-0) ground attack in the Pioneer Football League matchup with 64 yards on 18 carries. Valpo had 171 yards on 53 carries. Marrial Shields carried six times for 35 yards and completed 2-of-7 passes for 18 yards.

The Crusaders drew first blood when Clancy ran two yards for a touchdown to cap a 65-yard, 14-play drive on their second possession.

Clancy found the end zone again with 11:10 left in the third quarter for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.

San Diego (3-4, 1-2) scored with 1:07 left in the game to avoid the shutout. Tom Jackson found Dylan Ching for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

Jackson finished the day with 185 yards on 19-of-31 passing, while Ching had 91 yards on eight catches. Matt Hackett had four catches for 41 yards.

Kyle Slusser, Bryan Baxter and Brian Luman each notched 13 tackles for the Toreros.

Matt Steinfeldt led the Valpo receivers with two catches for 21 yards.

Oscar Arzu ran for 30 yards on 13 carries for San Diego and David Lembe had 26 yards on 11 carries.
