 LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) _ Chris Chaloupka passed for 314 yards and one touchdown and Sam Houston State's defense forced three turnovers in a 20-3 victory over McNeese State in a Southland Football League game Saturday night. The Bearkats (4-4 overall, 2-2 SFL) snapped a two-game losing streak and won at Lake Charles for the first time since 1970. The loss ended a two-game McNeese winning streak and dropped the Cowboys to 2-5, 2-2. Chaloupka completed 21 of 33 passes and Adrian Thomas led a Sam Houston ground attack with 125 yards on 29 carries and one touchdown. Sam Houston had 468 total offensive yards while McNeese had but 226. Chaloupka threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jonathon Cooper and Daniel Chappel kicked a 30-yard field goal as Sam Houston seized a 10-3 halftime lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Chappel kicked z 25-yard field goal early in the fourth period and Thomas concluded a 69-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. A 29-yard field goal by Shonz LaFrenz midway through the second period gave McNeese its only points.
