SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) _ Jessie Burton caught the an 18-yard touchdown pass with just over a minute left in the game, catapulting McNeese State to a 10-7 win over Southwest Texas State on Saturday. Burton's game-winning reception was part of a two-play, 23-second touchdown drive set up by a 32-yard pass from Slade Nagle to Jermaine Martin the play before. Burton finished the game with 106 yards on 25 carries. Both teams combined for only 449 yards of offense and 29 first downs. McNeese State (4-5, 3-2 Southland Football League) had only 219 yards of offense, stymied by a strong Southwest Texas (2-7, 1-5) defensive effort. Bobcat defensive back Jason Washington tallied nine tackles, two sacks and forced two fumbles. But McNeese State held the Bobcats to 76 rushing yards on 41 attempts, and sacked quarterback Spergon Wynn five times. Wynn completed 17 of 29 passes for 154 yards and had one interception.
