KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) _ David Corley threw three touchdown passes and Komlan Lonergan rushed for 149 yards to lead William & Mary over Rhode Island 24-6 Saturday. Hameen Ali caught two of Corley's scoring passes, the second on a 13-yard swing pass that lifted William & Mary (5-4, 4-2 Atlantic 10) to a 21-6 halftime lead. Rhode Island (1-5, 1-8) failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities. The Rams had five drives reach the William & Mary 15, but could not score a touchdown. Twice they turned the ball over and twice they settled for short Ryan Szczesniak field goals. Repeatedly slicing through the middle of the Ram defense, Lonergan, who stepped into the starting spot after Ali was injured three weeks ago, surpassed 130 yards for the third straight game. The Rams led 3-0 early in the first quarter, but Lonergan's 55-yard run off a draw play set up Corley's first scoring pass to Ali. The Rams closed to 7-6, but Corley hit David Conklin and Ali late in the half to break the game open. The win was the Tribe's third in a row, after opening the season with three straight losses.
