STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) _ Greg Hill ran for four touchdowns and threw for two more as second-seeded Georgia Southern routed No. 15 seed Northern Arizona 72-29 Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

Hill had 206 yards rushing and scored on runs of 5, 10, 32 and 73 yards. He was 4-of-6 passing for 100 yards and connected with Dedric Parham on a 13-yard score and Andre Weathers on a 73-yard bomb.

Georgia Southern, 21-0 at home in playoff games, will host Massachusetts, a 30-23 overtime winner over Furman, in the second round next Saturday. The Minutemen defeated the Eagles 55-43 in last season's championship game.

After a 7-7 deadlock at the end of the first quarter, Georgia Southern (10-2) exploded for 23 unanswered points to take a 30-14 halftime lead. The Eagles outscored the Lumberjacks 42-15 in the final half, including a 21-0 run in the third quarter.

Fullback Adrian Peterson rushed for 134 yards and scored on a 1-yard plunge. Slotbacks Cherard Freeman and Bennie Cunningham added touchdowns of 31 and 15 yards respectively.

Northern Arizona (8-4) was led by quarterback Travis Brown, who completed 27-of-46 passes for 334 yards and three interceptions, two of which were nabbed by GSU free safety Ryan Hadden. Marcus King rushed for two 1-yard touchdowns for the Lumberjacks.
