Sometimes schemes don't matter. Sometimes teams are just flat out better than others. In man-to-man combat, Nebraska guy were just whipping Northwestern guys. You can start with Nebraska's defensive line and Kyle Vanden Bosch. They just manhandled Northwestern's offensive line. Nebraska's secondary was also very impressive. Their corners totally dominated Sam Simmons and Teddy Johnson, who just couldn't shake them. They were physical and beat those receivers up.
Offensively, I don't know how often Northwestern has seen a 245 lb. tailback -- it didn't look like it was very often. Early on, Northwestern did a nice job of responding to the bad things that happened to them. They were held three-and-out on their first possession and Nebraska scored quickly. Northwestern hung in there in the first quarter and answered. They proved they were mentally tough enough, they just weren't physically tough enough.

| IT WAS OVER WHEN |
| Nebraska heard it was heading to the Alamo Bowl. They got, uh, slightly upset at what they perceived to be a slight and took their frustrations out on Northwestern, setting a bowl game record for most points in the 66-17 win.

| Wow...where do you start? Do you look at Husker QB Eric Crouch, who had four TDs? Do you side with Nebraska defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, who seemingly made every tackle? No, you have to go with running back Dan Alexander, who set an Alamo Bowl record with 240 yards and two TDs.

Nebraska made its point against Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl. 66 of them, to be exact. The Huskers, out to prove they were still among the nation's elite despite their two losses, set a record for most points scored in a bowl and thrashed Northwestern 66-17 Saturday night.
