IT WAS OVER WHEN ...
Well, officially it was over in the third quarter when Oregon State scored four touchdowns in a span of just more than seven minutes for a 41-3 lead. Unofficially, it was over much earlier than that when the Beavers showed their overall team speed, especially on defense.
GAME BALL GOES TO ...
Oregon State coach Dennis Erickson. Why not? After four frustrating seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, he could have called it a career rather than take what some folks were calling a demeaning job with the sad-sack Beavers. Instead, he found his enthusiasm and his magic formula he displayed in his earlier college coaching stints. In two years in Corvallis, he's put an end to the Beavers' streak of 28 consecutive losing seasons and put them in the top five of the college football world with an 11-1 record and dominating performance against traditional power Notre Dame.

Chad Johnson
Chad Johnson runs by a stunned Notre Dame sideline for a TD.

A big, bold, decisive exclamation point was put on Oregon State's sudden emergence on the national college football scene. The Beavers simply dominated Notre Dame in posting a 41-9 victory in the Fiesta Bowl. With a 11-1 record (with the only blemish against 11-1 Washington), the Beavers of coach Dennis Erickson will be ready to debate their worthiness to be national champs if Oklahoma doesn't finish 12-0.

Congratulations to OSU. I am humbled, awed, and sickened by your dominance in not only the Fiesta Bowl, but also the last half of the season. You have a vicious defense and a fine quarterback in Jonathan Smith. I look forward to meeting you in Autzen next year and hope to avenge our disgraceful loss to you this year. Good Night, Happy New Year, and Party Hard tonight, you earned it (we shall see). GO DUCKS!
