with Rod Gilmore

It was a physical Colorado State team that turned in a workmanlike performance. We're seeing in many of these games teams pick it up in the third quarter. The Rams were able to do this as well. In this case, defensive coordinator Larry Kerr did a very smart thing. He decided to attack Louisville quarterback Dave Ragone, blitzing when they really didn't match up that well. But he took that gamble and kept the pressure up until the end of the game. That made the difference in the game as they were able to take the ball away from Louisville.

IT WAS OVER WHEN
Colorado State's Jack Howell sacked Louisville QB Dave Ragone on fourth-and-7 with 3:10 left in the game and the Rams leading 19-17. C.W. Hurst added a field goal to seal the victory.
GAME BALL GOES TO
Cecil Sapp was Ram tough. Sapp rushed for a career-high 160 yards on a Liberty Bowl-record 36 carries and just overpowered the Cardinals.

"First, that was a good game to watch. That UL quarterback is pretty impressive - and just a sophomore! Second, hopefully we Ram fans don't gloat too much. Third, just think, we get to see these two schools play each for the next two years. Here's hoping the games are just as exciting. Nice win Rams."
