IT WAS OVER WHEN
Washington QB Marques Tuiasosopo gained five yards on a fourth-and-1 play from the Washington 45 with a little less than three minutes left and the Huskies up by 10. From there, Washington just ran the clock out.
GAME BALL GOES TO
Curtis Williams. In an emotionl pregame meeting, Williams, paralyzed during the Stanford game, greeted the Huskies as they walked in the locker room. After every big play, they pointed to the Press Box, where Williams was watching, and at the end of the game happily announced they got the ring for "C-Dub." He didn't play a down, but he made the most impact on the field.

With paralyzed teammate Curtis Williams looking on, the No. 4 Washington Huskies played an emotional and inspired game in the Rose Bowl against Purdue. The Huskies -- the only team to beat No. 2 Miami -- kept their slim national title hopes alive with a 34-24 victory. It was a disappointing end for Purdue's Drew Brees.

  • "Washington may be the best team in the nation, and if Oklahoma loses to Flordia St. on Wednesday, I would give Washington the No. 1 vote. They proved they could beat excellent teams and that they were truly champions. And they beat two other champions, miami and purdue. They deserved a shot at Oklahoma. "
