Health concerns likely to end Daily's career

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas fullback Adam Daily's career is over, according to team trainer Dean Weber.
Daily has a spinal cord problem that will keep him out of the
Dec. 21 Las Vegas bowl, and Weber says he believes the risks if
Daily were to keep playing would be too great.
"I think clearly his football career is over," Weber said Thursday. "I think if you're realistic and talking about any person, especially a father -- if it was your child, what would you do?"
Daily, 6-0, 250 pounds, is the primary blocking fullback for the Razorbacks and has caught 12 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown.
A sophomore from Alma, Ark., Daily had an appointment with a neurosurgeon Thursday and is supposed to see another specialist in January. A determination will be made then on whether surgery is needed, Weber said.
Fluid has been collecting on Daily's spinal cord in the upper part of his back. Weber said the condition could be congenital or it could have been caused by some sort of trauma from football either recently or as far back as his youth.
Doctors noticed fluid on Daily's spinal cord after doing an imaging scan to try to determine why he had been having stingers in his upper arm. The stingers may or may not be related to the spinal cord condition.
