"This just shows what we feared all year -- Mack Brown may have cost Texas a shot at the national title by stubbornly sticking with the sexier Simms instead of starting the proven winner. Congrats on a great career Major. We'll miss you."

WITH ROD GILMORE

Wow! What an incredible game! I feel sorry for people who either didn't watch this game or didn't stick around for the end.

You have to feel great for Longhorn QB Major Applewhite and the incredible way he ended his career after everything he's been through. For Applewhite to lead the game-winning drive, to make every perfect throw and decision and put his team ahead, to end his career that way is amazing. It was phenomenal performance by a guy who’s been an incredible quarterback at Texas.

Washington played a great game offensively. Cody Pickett, even with the bad shoulder, played very well. He got TE Jerramy Stevens involved and got the ball to WR Roy Williams, who was very good in the matchup with Quentin Jammer. The Huskie's also got a great performance out of Willie Hurst.

This was just one of those performances where so many players gave the ultimate effort. You can't really find fault with anyone. This was one of those rare games of great collective and individual performances that you just sit back and say, “did that just really happen?” I'm overwhelmed with the magnitude of performances.

IT WAS OVER WHEN
Washington QB Cody Pickett ran out of bounds on fourth down a few yards shy of a first down. Until then, it wasn't safe to assume the game was ever over as there were five lead changes.
GAME BALL GOES TO
Hmmm...who could it be? Texas QB Major Applewhite led the 'Horns back from a 19-point deficit -- its greatest comeback ever -- and threw for a career-high 473 yards and 4 TDs in the process.

WASHINGTON CLUBHOUSE

One of the pleasant surprises for the Huskies this season was the outstanding play of freshman WR Reggie Williams, who didn't take long to adjust to the college game.

TEXAS CLUBHOUSE

QB Major Applewhite refused to lose on Dec. 28 in the Culligan Holiday Bowl. Thanks to Applewhite's performance, the Longhorns didn't.
