"It seem like I'm always waiting for special teams to do
something. Their quarterback was getting hot. That blocked punt ... deflated them. From that point we took control."

WITH ROD GILMORE
The New Orleans Bowl shaped up to be pretty much what we all expected, especially from the 5-6 North Texas. Bradlee Van Pelt played his best game of the season, leading the Colorado State Rams to a 45-20 victory. Instead of running a lot of quarterback sneaks, Van Pelt actually threw the ball down field, and he threw it well. Defensive coordinator Larry Kerr does an amazing job with Colorado State's defense. Were it not for a couple breakdowns in the CSU secondary, North Texas likely wouldn't have scored in the first half, and this one would have been over at halftime.
Maybe this is why most of us agree a team should have a winning record before they can get in a bowl game. Sure, North Texas won the Sun Belt conference, but they were completely dominated by a Colorado State team that is solid, but not even the best team in the Mountain West. We don't need a 5-6 team losing by 25 points in a bowl game.

IT WAS OVER WHEN |
Justin Gallimore blocked a North Texas punt and then recovered it in the end zone for a Colorado State touchdown. It was just 24-14 for the Rams before that and North Texas was starting to establish itself. That, however, took the steam out of the Mean Green. |

Justin Gallimore. Hey, when a defensive back and a special teams star gets named MVP, who are we to argue. |

COLORADO STATE CLUBHOUSE
North Texas came into the New Orleans Bowl with a losing record, and Colorado State made sure the Mean Green left that way.
