Monday, November 25 Like it or not, Rix is back as the starter By Ivan Maisel ESPN.com |

Four games after the cast members of Survivor: Tallahassee voted Chris Rix out of their tribe, they discover that he's all they've got. There's a huddle worth eavesdropping on: "Yo, Chris. No hard feelings. You don't suck nearly as much as we said you did."
Adrian McPherson, dismissed from the team Monday for violating an unspecified team policy, delivered that pass on target, a relative rarity for him (8-of-20) in what would be his last game as a Seminole. Rix's numbers are no better than average for the season. He has completed 53 percent of his passes (105-of-196) for 1,490 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven picks. The good news is that Rix looked pretty sharp Saturday for a guy who had had nothing but garbage time for a month. He completed 5-of-7 passes for 63 yards in an offense that had to play catch-up. He ran twice for 22 yards. The Louisville loss came in a downpour. The Cardinals' Dave Ragone adjusted. Rix didn't. He played well enough for Florida State to beat Miami. A good snap on the game-ending field goal might have made him a hero. Against Notre Dame, he didn't play well. The bottom line is that he lost his job as much in the locker room as he did on the field. Now the team is his again, and he will never have a tougher leadership test than what awaits him this week. One thing is for sure: Rix has won this week's immunity challenge. Ivan Maisel is a senior writer for ESPN.com. E-mail him at ivan.maisel@espn3.com. |
