STORRS, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma expected his top-ranked Huskies to run smack into a learning experience when No. 3 Louisiana Tech visited.

It was Louisiana Tech who got schooled.

UConn (10-0) routed the Lady Techsters 93-60 Sunday night with red-hot perimeter shooting and fierce defense. Tech (10-2) became the fourth top 10-team to lose to the Huskies, who have beaten those ranked opponents by an average of 33 points.

UConn took an 18-4 lead after six minutes, and Tech never recovered.

"Basketball has been and always will be a guards' game," Auriemma said. "And our guards played great today."

Guards Shea Ralph, Sue Bird and Kennitra Johnson combined for 32 points, 16 assists and four steals. But it was the shooting touch of Svetlana Abrosimova whose perimeter shooting helped the Huskies pull away early. She finished with 25 points and four steals.

"I wasn't focused on scoring. I just wanted to run our offense and to be careful because (Tech) is really quick," Abrosimova said. "A lot of times I was wide open."

The Lady Techsters were hobbled early by poor shooting, hitting just 13 of 42 shots in the first half. They finished the game going 28 of 82 (34 percent).

"We have no excuses," Tech coach Leon Barmore said. "UConn was so good, we would have had to make every shot to win this game. They were totally focused and prepared."

He was not happy with his team's shot selection.

"I'm not that smart," Barmore said, "but a 2-foot shot goes in more often and a 30-footer."

Shaka Massey hit the opening bucket at 19:28 to give the Lady Techsters their only lead of the game. Abrosimova countered with a 3-pointer on UConn's next possession, kicking off a 16-0 run.

UConn was 6 of 9 from 3-point range in the first half. Johnson's second 3 of the game gave UConn a 37-14 lead, its largest of the half, with 7:58 left. UConn took a 47-30 halftime lead.

Swin Cash's play on the defensive board gave the Lady Techsters few second looks. She pulled down six of her team-high eight rebounds in the first half.

"All of our big guys wanted to come out and make a collective effort to make ourselves a presence in the lane," Cash said. "I think we matched up really well with them."

UConn opened the second half with a 14-4 run, fueled by Abrosimova's four points. Abrosimova also finished with six rebounds. Ralph added 15 points and had a game-high eight assists.

Betty Lennox led Tech with 27 points and Tamicha Jackson had 14.

"We have to get tougher inside and outside," Jackson said. "We have to be a bit more disciplined."

The loss kept Barmore at 499 career victories. His .869 winning percentage coming into the season makes him the winningest active coach -- men's or women's -- in Division I.

UConn evened the four-game series against Louisiana Tech. The Lady Techsters won 90-76 last year in Ruston.
