 TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Tatum Brown had 15 points and eight rebounds and Angela Lackey added 12 and 12 as 15th-ranked Arizona defeated California, 71-58, in the Pac-10 Conference opener for both schools. Julie Brase added 11 points for Arizona (12-1, 1-0 Pac 10) which won its third straight despite shooting 37 percent (25-of-67) from the floor and going 3-of-18 from 3-point range. The Wildcats shot 40 percent (12-of-30) in the second half, when they outscored California, 32-24. The Golden Bears (5-6, 0-1) were held to 37 percent (11-of-30) shooting in the final 20 minutes and suffered their third straight loss. Shavaki Jackson scored 14 points and Kenya Corley added 11 for California, which shot 47 percent (27-of-58) overall but could not overcome 27 turnovers.
