STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Lisa Shepherd scored her 1,000th career point Thursday night, and added another 25 for good measure.

Shepherd had 26 Thursday night as No. 4 Penn State beat Ohio State 73-62, saying she wasn't paying attention as she neared the career milestone.

"I had an idea, but I wasn't keeping track of it during the game," said Shepherd, who hit 4-of-9 from 3-point range and made all eight free throw attempts.

"Shepherd hit great shots when she was under pressure," Penn State coach Rene Portland said. "It was a hard-fought game, but we came out with a win."

Andrea Garner added 19 points and nine rebounds for Penn State (16-2, 7-0 Big Ten), which won its 12th straight game and remained the lone unbeaten team in the league.

"It was a physical game," said Penn State's Maren Walseth, who had 13 points. "There was a lot of shirt-tugging out there, but we played through it."

LaToya Turner had 21 points and seven rebounds, most in the first half, for Ohio State (9-7, 2-4), whose leading scorer, Michaela Moua, was kicked off the team Tuesday for undisclosed reasons.

"Penn State is as good a team as we've seen all year," Ohio State coach Beth Burns said. "They rebound so well and get so much from their defense."

Penn State shot only 32 percent in the first half, but led 34-29 with the help of 17-of-23 free-throw shooting. Shepherd was 8-for-8 from the line.

Penn State went on a 16-3 run add the end of the half to build a five-point halftime lead. Andrea Garner had two baskets during the run.

The Lady Lions kept the pressure up in the second half, scoring the first nine points and keeping Turner on the bench for much of the half with four fouls.
