STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Maren Walseth had a career night but insists she did nothing she doesn't usually do. Walseth scored a career-high 35 points to lead No. 7 Penn State to an 85-71 victory over Michigan on Thursday night. "I didn't do anything out of the ordinary tonight. They just went in for me," said Walseth, whose 15-for-18 shooting was an arena record. Andrea Garner added 16 points and nine rebounds for Penn State (17-3, 8-1 Big Ten), which recovered from its first Big Ten loss of the season. "Maren played an excellent game for us tonight," coach Renee Portland said. "We rebounded well from our loss to Michigan State last week." Lisa Shepherd had 13 points for the Lady Lions and Helen Darling added 12. Penn State shot a season-best 55.9 percent (33-of-59) and forced 21 turnovers. Michigan (13-6, 5-3) was led by Anne Thorius and Alayne Ingram with 14 each and Alison Miller had 12. Penn State trailed 14-13 with 14:53 remaining in the first half when it went on a 21-4 run to take a 34-18 lead. Walseth had 15 points in the first half and Shepherd added nine with 3-of-4 3-point shooting to help Penn State to a 41-31 advantage at the half. Walseth scored 10 of Penn State's first 12 points in the second half and added another 10 along the way as the Lady Lions maintained at least a five-point lead.
