STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Katrina Hibbert scored 22 points as No. 13 Louisiana State snapped No. 21 Mississippi State's school-record 17-game home winning streak with a 64-58 Southeastern Conference victory.

With LSU holding a one-point lead, Hibbert hit a 3-pointer to make it 60-56 with 3:53 remaining and also had a key steal in the final 2 1/2 minutes.

The Lady Bulldogs (16-3, 5-3 SEC) closed to 60-58 on Jennifer Fambrough's jumper with 3:18 left but were held scoreless thereafter. Marie Ferdinand made four free throws for LSU in the final four seconds.

"I thought this game was won on the defensive end," LSU coach Sue Gunter said. "The difference in this game was our ability to defend."

Ferdinand added 16 points and DeTrina White 13 for the Fighting Tigers (16-3, 6-1), who posted their sixth straight victory and remained tied with Tennessee and Georgia for first place in the SEC.

Fambrough scored 16 points and LaToya Thomas 14 for the Lady Bulldogs, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. LSU completed a season sweep of Mississippi State, posting a 61-54 victory in Baton Rouge on January 9.

"We were in position to win this game," Mississippi State coach Sharon Fanning said. "I hope we can keep our heads up and learn from this. We have to play tough and play physical for 40 minutes."
