SPRINGFIELD, Missouri (Ticker) -- Brianne Meharry missed a potential game-tying free throw with no time left as Southwest Missouri State upset ninth-ranked Oregon, 70-69, in the championship game of the Women's Sports Foundation Basketball Classic. Tara Mitchem, who scored 10 points, sank two free throws to give Southwest Missouri State a 70-67 lead with 10 seconds left but Meharry hit a jumper as time expired and was fouled by Rachel Johnson. Meharry failed to convert the three-point play as Oregon suffered itts first loss of the season. Lindsey Dion's jumper gave Oregon its last lead of the game at 67-66 with 1:52 to play. But Johnson's basket allowed the Lady Bears to regain the lead with 69 seconds to go. Jackie Stiles scored 38 points on 14-of-25 shooting, and Mitchem added 10 for Southwest Missouri State (5-3), which shot 48 percent (25-of-52) from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Angelina Wolvert had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Shaquala Williams and Dion contributed 14 each for the Ducks.
