PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Shawnetta Stewart scored 28 points for the second straight game as No. 14 Rutgers defeated Southern California, 76-59, for its fourth consecutive victory. Stewart was 11-of-19 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds, helping the Lady Knights (7-2) record back-to-back wins over Pacific-10 teams. Rutgers, making a bid to climb back into the top 10, ripped No. 9 UCLA, 72-46, on December 21. Tasha Pointer added 17 points for the Lady Knights, who shot 56 percent (28-of-50) while holding USC (5-5) to only 36 percent (21-of-59). Rutgers opened a 32-23 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half by making 17 of its 26 shots. The Lady Knights also dominated the boards with a 45-23 rebounding edge. Erica Smith had 15 points and Danielle Golay 12 for the Women of Troy, who have dropped three straight overall and two in a row to the Big East. USC suffered a 74-59 loss at No. 12 Notre Dame on Monday.
