AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Tasha Hamilton scored 20 points in just 20 minutes and Carol Smith added 10 points and 11 rebounds, powering 13th-ranked Auburn to a 79-35 romp over Mercer. Hamilton, a 5-10 forward, hit 8-of-10 shots from the field and added five rebounds. LaRita Spencer dished out eight assists for the Tigers (9-0), who did not allow a fastbreak point and gave up just one basket in the paint. The Tigers made ample use of their bench, using 10 players for at least 11 minutes each. Smith logged the most minutes with 26. Tracy Henry led the Bears (1-6) with 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals, but no other Mercer player scored more than six points. The Tigers completely overpowered the Bears, holding them to 23 percent shooting (15-of-64) while firing at 47 percent (28-of-60) and outrebounding them 53-31. Auburn scored 32 points inside and got 21 points off Mercer turnovers.
