Stanford 92, Arizona St 64

PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Sarah Dimson scored 17 of her 21 points in the first half as 22nd-ranked Stanford rode its hot shooting to a 92-64 victory over Arizona State in the Pac-10 Conference opener for both schools.

Lindsey Yamasaki added 21 points and Nicole Powell 17 and 14 rebounds for Stanford (7-4, 1-0 Pac-10), which shot 69 percent (20-of-29) in the first half and 60 percent (34-of-57) overall.

Dimson was the story in the opening half, going 8-of-9 from the field as the Cardinal opened a 49-34 advantage. She finished 9-of-13, helping Stanford to its second straight win following a three-game losing streak.

Yamasaki was even better from the floor, going 8-of-10, including 5-of-6 from behind the arc.

Melody Johnson scored 19 points and Natalie Tucker 12 for Arizona State (8-5, 0-1), which shot 40 percent (23-of-58) and was outrebounded, 47-21.
