RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Kay Yow became the fifth coach in women's college basketball to reach 600 victories Thursday night, directing the North Carolina State to a 71-64 victory over Temple.

Kay Yow joined some elite company Thursday, becoming just the fifth women's coach with 600 career wins.

Yow is 600-243 overall in 30 seasons and 543-225 in 25 season at North Carolina State (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP).

Yow, who was inducted in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame last year, got her other coaching victories at Elon College.

"It's a wonderful feeling to get the 600th game," Yow said. "That's something that could hang on our back for a while, so it's good to get that taken care of. To get the 11th win is really a big thing for this team, me and this staff right now."

Tynesha Lewis scored 21 points, and Carisse Moody added 18 points and 10 rebounds for North Carolina State (11-4). Christine Cruz led the Owls (9-4) with 14 points, and Stacey Smalls added 13.

The Wolfpack erased a one-point deficit with 4:18 left with a 10-0 run. The decisive run was keyed by four points each from Moody and Lewis. The other basket came from junior forward Talisha Scates, who scored eight of her 11 points in the second half.
