Bills 24, Lions 17
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
On fourth-and-inches with 1:52 left and the ball at the Bill's 20, James Stewart was tackled behind the line of scrimmage by London Fletcher ending Detroit's attempt at a second straight fourth quarter comeback. Drew Bledsoe. After completing 21 of 36 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown, Bledsoe has thrown for 250 yards in seven out of the Bills' eight games this year. By the way, the Bills play the Patriots next week. The Lions should continue to focus on establishing the run to give rookie QB Joey Harrington the opportunity to throw play-action passes and get everyone involved.
UP NEXT: Bills (4-3) vs Patriots (3-4)   |   Lions (2-5) vs Cowboys (3-5)

Seahawks 17, Cowboys 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Emmitt Smith tied the game with 5:35 remaining, but the Seahwaks took the kickoff and drove down the field for a game-winning field goal. Rian Lindell split the uprights from 20 yards out with 25 second remaining giving the Seahawks the win. Smith. The Cowboys work-horse carried the ball 24 time for 109 yards in a losing effort. More importantly Smith broke Walter Payton's all-time rushing record. Smith now has 16,743 yards and 150 career touchdowns. I thought it was a mistake to start Hutchinson at QB. I thought Quincy Carter deserved an opportunity to play at least until he had about a season under his belt.
UP NEXT: Cowboys (3-5) at Lions (2-5)   |   Seahawks (2-5) vs Redskins (2-4)

Vikings 25, Bears 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Daunte Culpepper threw a 39-yard touchdown strike to Randy Moss giving the Vikings a 20-0 lead. The Viking defense held the Bears scoreless through three quarters. Randy Moss. Everyone's been waiting for him to have a breakout game. With nine receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown, maybe this was the game. Not only (the injuries), the traveling is starting to take a toll on the Bears as well. To catch a plane every week to head to Champaign -- for the veterans and the young guys alike, it's difficult and hard to adjust to.
UP NEXT: Bears (2-5) vs Eagles (4-2)   |   Vikings (2-5) at Bucs (5-2)

Browns 24, Jets 21
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Courtney Brown blocked John Hall's 44-yard field goal with 16 seconds left in the game. The Browns stormed back form a 18-point deficit at halftime. Tim Couch. The Brown's quarterback threw for 307 yards and two second half touchdowns to lead his team to victory. Wonder how the Cleveland fans feel about Couch now? Because of the discipline the Browns have shown the past few weeks and the mentality of coach Butch Davis, I think they're good enough to contend for the playoffs. Davis has a no-lose attitude, so I really like this young club.
UP NEXT: Browns (4-4) vs Steelers (4-3)   |   Jets (2-5) at Chargers (6-1)

Steelers 31, Ravens 18
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Amos Zereoue scored on a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. It was Zereou's second of the day as the Steelers scored touchdowns on each of their first four possessions. Tommy Maddox. The Steelers newfound leader completed his first 11 passes on his way to a modest 172 yards and two touchdowns. More importantly Maddox is now 3-1 as the starter and the Steelers are alone on top of the AFC North. The Steelers are playing much better defensively, and the D is their catalyst. As long as they continue to pressure the quarterback and get some turnovers, they'll be a tough team to beat -- especially in the AFC North, because it's not as strong as, say, the AFC West.
UP NEXT: Steelers (4-3) at Browns (4-4)    |   Ravens (3-4) at Falcons (4-3)

Chiefs 20, Raiders 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Chiefs recovered a Jerry Rice fumble on the Oakland 22 with 4:39 left. That set up Trent Green's 4-yard touchdown pass to Tony Richardson and the Raiders now have lost three straight. Priest Holmes. The NFL's leading scorer added another touchdown to his total with a 3-yard run in the third quarter. Holmes finished the game with 91 yards on 23 carries and six receptions for 93 yards. Injuries have wreaked havoc with the Raiders' offensive backfield and defensive backfield. And now the youth is showing.
UP NEXT: Raiders (4-3) vs 49ers (5-2)   |   Cheifs (4-4) bye

Titans 30, Bengals 24
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Corey Dillon tripped over his own blocker and was tackled inches from the goal line on fourth-and goal with 1:08 to play. Looks like the Bengals can't buy a victory. Steve McNair. "Air" McNair hit 16 of 27 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns, all in the second half. His 16-yarder to Derrick Mason turned out to be the game winner. I don't know what's going on in Cincinnati. I wouldn't want to be in that locker room. You couldn't pay me enough to sign with Cincinnati and put a Bengals' helmet on.
UP NEXT: Titans (3-4) at Colts (4-2)    |   Bengals (0-7) at Texans (2-5)

Falcons 37, Saints 35
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
After a Warrick Dunn fumble late in the fourth quarter Deuce McAllister broke a 16-yard touchdown to give the Saints a 35-34 lead with just over two minutes remaining. It turned out to be too much time, as Michael Vick drove his team 60 yards with no timeouts, setting up Jay Feely's game winning 47-yard field goal as time expired. Vick. This guy is amazing. He threw for 195 yards, but ran the ball 10 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns. By the way, Vick has yet to throw an interception this season, pretty impressive for a first-year starter. Vick needs to develop more of a quarterback's mentality -- stay in the pocket and make plays with his arm instead of his legs. But he's certainly exciting to watch right now.
UP NEXT: Falcons (4-3) vs Ravens (3-4)   |   Saints (6-2) bye

Bucs 12, Panthers 9
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Martin Gramatica kicked three field goals of over 45 yards in the fourth quarter. His 47-yarder with 5 seconds left game the Bucs the win. Gramatica. It would have been Shayne Graham if the Panthers won. Who else could you pick in a game that featured seven field goals? Defensively, the Panthers play tremendous football. I thought they would steal this one. DE Julius Peppers is doing a fantastic job. But again, mistakes continue to bite them.
UP NEXT: Bucs (5-2) vs Vikings (2-5)    |   Panthers (3-4) bye

49ers 38, Cardinals 28
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Terrell Owens and Jeff Garcia hooked up on a 61-yard touchdown in the second quarter giving the Niners a 31-7 lead going into the half. T.O. and Garcia. Garcia threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns, while Owens caught eight balls for 132 yards and two scores. Jason Webster and Ahmed Plummer are awesome cornerbacks. With the addition of Mike Rumph, the rookie from Miami (Fla.), the 49ers' defense is built around their corners. They just need to do a better job stopping the run.
UP NEXT: 49ers (5-2) at Raiders (4-3)   |   Cardinals (4-3) vs Rams (2-5)

Broncos 24, Patriots 16
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Patriots punted the ball on a fourth-and-22 with two and a half minutes left in the game, thinking the defense could hold. They were wrong. On third-and-eight Brian Griese completed a 40-yard pass to Ashley Lelie to ice the game. Clinton Portis. The Denver rookie carried the rock 26 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Not a bad day. On offense, the Pats' issues are correctable. It's a matter of emphasis -- they need to find a way to run the ball more effectively.
UP NEXT:Patriots (3-4) at Bills (5-3)    |   Broncos (6-2) bye

Texans 21, Jaguars 19
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Mark Brunell's hail-mary fell incomplete as the clock expired. Kris Brown had kicked a 45-yard field goal with just over two minutes left to put the Texans up for good. David Carr. While his numbers aren't great, 11 of 18 for 184 yards and a touchdown, Carr led his team to the win and played turnover-free football. Their next three games are against Cincinnati, Tennessee and Jacksonville again, so there are some potentially winnable games ahead for the Texans. I didn't think they'd win this one, but QB David Carr continues to mature. And they made enough plays defensively to win.
UP NEXT: Jaguars (3-3) at Giants (3-3)   |   Texans (2-5) vs Bengals (0-7)

Redskins 26, Colts 21
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
The Redskins ran out most of the clock in the final two minutes. LaVar Arrington (two sacks) was all over the field for the Redskins.
UP NEXT: Colts(4-2) vs Titans (3-4)   |   Redskins (2-4) at Seahawks (2-5)
