JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars right tackle Leon Searcy underwent surgery on the tendon above his right knee Thursday, and the team got more bad news when punter Bryan Barker sprained his ankle during practice.

Barker is out indefinitely, as is fullback Daimon Shelton, who had surgery to repair a broken finger on his left hand.

Searcy tore his quadriceps in practice Monday. Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin said Searcy's surgery went well but he was noncommital about his status for the season. Searcy is hoping for a return in three or four months.

"I'll listen to what the doctors have to say and then try to evaluate the circumstances that surround either putting him on injured reserve or keeping him on the roster," Coughlin said.

Searcy can't play the remainder of the season if he goes on injured reserve.

Barker suffered a lateral sprain of his right ankle while kicking in the morning practice.

X-rays were negative. Coughlin said Steve Lindsay, signed last year to handle kickoffs, will take over the punting duties until the team signs another punter.
