San Francisco quarterback Jeff Garcia has apologized to former 49ers quarterback Steve Young regarding comments he made earlier in the week.
Garcia had said he was disappointed Young did not do more last season to help him and other young quarterbacks on the team.
Garcia said Wednesday that he "would've liked to have seen more of the coach come out in Young -- especially when dealing with three guys new to the team. ... I didn't really feel there was a whole lot of activity from him in helping us young guys."
The San Jose Mercury News reported Saturday that Young became aware of Garcia's remarks and called 49ers coach Steve Mariucci on Thursday. Mariucci called Garcia into the coach's office, and Garcia then issued the apology Friday. He also said he tried to reach Young by phone Thursday night and left a message with the retired quarterback.
