Redskins target Lewis as coordinator candidate

ESPN.com news services

The Washington Redskins' request to interview Baltimore defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis for their defensive coordinator job was rejected by the Ravens, NFL sources told the Washington Post on Wednesday.

According to a Ravens source, Lewis has told that team he intends to remain in Baltimore if he is not hired as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach, the Post reported on its Web site.

Lewis reportedly will be the Buccaneers' choice as head coach if they are unable to complete a deal with the Raiders to lure Coach Jon Gruden from Oakland.
