Kerry Collins has more responsibility in this game. When you play the quarterback position you thrive on pressure-filled moments like this. There are only two guys who got this far and the other one isn't charged with winning anything.
This may seem like too much pressure for a man with Collins' past to handle. Physically he is far superior to Trent Dilfer. He can make the throws and we saw from the NFC championship game that he can move enough to be effective. The only question is his ability to handle the spotlight emotionally.
But after facing the adversity he has, Collins is in a better position to succeed than most others. He has faced far greater problems than the Baltimore Ravens defense. And while he won't be thinking of those experiences on Sunday, they have prepared him for the biggest game of his life in a way that separates him from most other players on the
field.

Being successful in this game is a function of not making mistakes. Trent Dilfer has a comfort level with what the Ravens expect -- or in this case, don't expect -- out of the passing game. Managing the game is more important for the quarterback in this game than creating plays. Dilfer has gotten much better at managing a game for sixty minutes; for that reason I think Dilfer will be more successful. He's more adept and attuned to what it's going to take to win this game.
The only reason Dilfer has gotten to this point has been his ability to check his ego. If he hadn't been able to do that, the result would have been him forcing plays. This team is not about him and he knows it. And that attitude has gotten him to the biggest game in his career. It will be very easy for him to swallow his pride and ego for one more game to achieve the ultimate goal: winning the
Super Bowl.
