Question of the Day Was this the greatest Super Bowl ever played?

Sean Salisbury: Yes. I was so into the game. The Rams and the Titans aren't big-name teams, but they came out with the best Super Bowl I have ever seen.

John Clayton: Yes. It tops everything because it came down to the last play and whether or not the Titans could score at the end. The tenacity and great plays -- this is as good as it gets.

Chris Mortensen: One of them. The Green Bay-Denver game three years ago was pretty good, but what a great finish. It is probably in the top three.

Merril Hoge: Yes. As far as it being an action-packed game to the final second, it is absolutely the greatest Super Bowl.

Anthony Munoz: One of them. It has to rank up there as one of the best, especially when it comes down to the last play. It was a great second half.

Joe Theismann, who played in two Super Bowls as quarterback of the Washington Redskins, has been here all week to take ESPN.com users inside Super Bowl week.

Now, the ESPN analyst offers a complete breakdown of the Rams' 23-16 victory over the Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. Theismann says Sunday's game was indeed the best Super Bowl contest he's ever seen.

Theismann also details some of the key factors behind St. Louis' dramatic victory, and he looks ahead to where the Titans and Rams might go next season.

Boomer Esiason's breakdown
Analyst Boomer Esiason, who called the game for ABC, shared his thoughts on Super Bowl XXXIV with ESPN.com:

The MVP story continues. Two in one season for Rams quarterback Kurt Warner is incredible.

This is the way a Super Bowl should end. One yard to go, you have a chance to win, but just can't get in. Linebacker Mike Jones made a great tackle for the Rams. It was a tremendous game and an honor to call it because everybody left everything out on the field. Even though the Titans lost this game, they played like champions and could have easily won this game.

This has to go down as one of the greatest Super Bowls ever because of the way it ended and the way the Rams took the lead. Tennessee was battling the whole time, tied the score, and the next thing you know Warner throws a wonderful pass in the face of pressure. Jevon Kearse almost got to him. Warner delivered the ball accurately and Isaac Bruce took over and made a great play.

That's the way a storybook season ends for a storybook character like Warner. Many people have said he is the next Johnny Unitas, but I don't know that Johnny U. ever put up numbers like this in a season or a Super Bowl.

I liked the Titans' call on the last play of the game. The openings would be underneath. It would be very difficult to get an opening in the end zone. The Titans wanted the ball in the hands of one of their best runners and hope he makes a play. It just so happens that Kevin Dyson had to break a tackle of a linebacker as opposed to a corner or a safety. It's just one player making a play against another player. Unfortunately for the Titans, it didn't work out, but it's a great story for Jones and the Rams.

I said throughout the first half that the Tennessee Titans should keep giving the ball to running back Eddie George. The game plan was to give the ball to George and let him pound away at the line of scrimmage, but he never had the opportunity to get any rhythm whatsoever. When momentum started to switch in the second half, George took over the game. Once George started running the football, quarterback Steve McNair started making plays. McNair looked more comfortable and brought them back into the game.
