Tuesday, April 4 Sound off on the 2000 NFL schedule |

Now that you know who and where your team is playing next season, we wanted to know what you thought of the 2000 NFL schedule. Below are some of the best user comments.
All right, I know it rains every national televised game in Jacksonville, but why don't we get a home Monday night game? Come on, we were 14-2 last year, and undefeated against every team in the NFL that doesn't reside in Tennessee. And what is with these road games? We play the first three out of four on the road? Is Jeff Fisher making this schedule?
Why do the Panthers have a home game againts the Seahawks the same day as the UAW-GM 500 Nascar race in Charlotte? ... Due to the fact that the Nascar schedule is basically "set in stone" a year ahead of time, I would think that the NFL schedulers would take this into consideration. As a fanatic of both the Panthers and Nascar, I invite the people who make the NFL schedule to ride in my car to whatever event I happen to choose to attend on October 8th. My bet is we will never make the start of either event due to a masssive traffic jam!!! Come on NFL -- WAKE UP!
I think it stinks that the 49ers got shafted. No Sunday or Monday night games? Well, that is going to be ESPN and ABC's loss. Then ABC wonders why their ratings are going down the tube. San Francisco has a very large television market and lots of fans who watch their games, so the idiots who left them off Sunday and Monday night should be fired.
I have no idea how the Patriots got that schedule. They play five playoff teams in the first eight. The three non-playoff games are two Jets games and the Broncos. Is that a fifth-place schedule? What a joke.
I see the Cowboys will get their usual overhype of being on national television again. That's cool, just more opportunity for the country to see mediocre football at its finest. I guess ABC put in the "flexible" scheduling thing for the 2001 season so they can get the Cowboys on Monday night every week.
The Bills got dealt the hardest schedule in the league this year. All the teams in their division -- eight games worth -- will be good, while they play Tennessee, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Seattle, Chicago (this year's sleeper team), Kansas City and San Diego out of the division. First "The Lateral," now this.
Once again, I see that the Seahawks get left out of the media spotlight! If I remember correctly it was the Seahawks that won the West and NOT KC. But of course, KC gets two Monday night games this year...makes sense! ... And then there is Minnesota, who doesn't even have a starting QB at this time and they get two Monday night games. I guess I will be turning the TV off the nights Minnesota plays because I've seen enough of Rick Mirer at QB to last me two lifetimes!
The NFL should hold the right to change the Monday night teams towards the end of the year to ensure meaningful contests.
If you are a Detroit Lions fan as I am, you have to be disgusted. A playoff team with no Monday Night appearances, both Thursday nights on the road, and only a week off after the short week following Thanksgiving? What a disgrace! When is the league going to learn that teams that usaully stink (i.e. Atlanta, St. Louis, etc.) may have one good year, but the next is fraught with problems. The Rams on three times!? No wonder their ratings are in the tank! At least I won't have to watch waterworks Vermeil cry!
Why do the Browns have their bye week at the end of the year? AGAIN! Not much of a bye for a team trying to make the playoffs.
Thanks to local blackouts, I may "get" to miss two Sunday night games. Knowing that the Cards will NEVER sell out vs. the Giants, that's one for sure in Week 13. MAYBE the Cowboys will bring enough fans to sell out in Week 3, so I still have hope. How sad is it that I have to hope for no Sunday night or Monday night games for my favorite team because the owners are so greedy? My only option is to become hopelessy behind at work and go to the game. I guess my collection of $40 T-shirts and $60 jerseys isn't enough for the guy who runs the local franchise.
