PITTSBURGH (AP) -- When Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya score together, it usually means good things for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Selanne scored on a breakaway on Anaheim's first shot and Kariya had two goals and an assist as the Mighty Ducks beat the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins 7-1 Saturday night.

Anaheim, 34-6-9 when Selanne and Kariya score in the same game, broke a three-game winless streak (0-2-1) that included consecutive losses.

"I think it's huge in the NHL now to get the first goal," Kariya said. "It really helps, especially if you're playing on the road, because you get some momentum. Teemu's goal was very big."

It was Pittsburgh's most lopsided home loss since Dallas beat the Penguins 9-3 on Feb. 12, 1994.

"What can I say, We got our lunch handed to us right at home," Pittsburgh coach Herb Brooks said.

The Penguins, on a 2-7-1 skid, finished a four-game homestand 1-2-1. Pittsburgh's only win came against the expansion Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

"I don't know what's happening. I've got no idea," Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr said.

Kariya's first score came less than a minute after the Penguins had sliced the Ducks' lead to 2-1. It restored the two-goal lead that Anaheim held after the first period.

"We were playing well and then they made a nice play on the goal," Kariya said. "It was good to get that two-goal lead right back and we continued on from there."

The Ducks coasted the rest of the way, keeping the Penguins out of reasonable striking distance.

"They took charge of the game early for us," Anaheim coach Craig Hartsburg said of his two stars. "That was the difference for us. They gave us great leadership early in the game and set the tone. We had a lot of guys who followed tonight."

The Penguins are on a 2-7-1 skid and were 1-2-1 on a four-game in seven nights homestand. Their only win came against the expansion Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

"Tonight they scored right away and it looked like everything bounced their way tonight," Jagr said. "We didn't play well. (Goalie Jean-Sebastien Aubin) didn't have his best night."

Selanne beat Aubin at 3:19 of the first for his 20th goal. Aubin got a glove on the shot but it dropped into the net.

The Mighty Ducks made it 2-0 on a power play at 12:12 when Antti Aalto put in Kariya's rebound. Martin Straka scored for the Penguins less than a minute later, but Kariya converted Steve Rucchin's rebound at 14:03.

Anaheim scored twice in the second period. Matt Cullen beat Aubin from 45 feet at 1:55 and Rucchin's long-range shot went in off Aubin's shoulder at 14:18. Following the goal, Aubin was replaced by Peter Skudra.

Skudra played for the first time since leaving with a concussion Dec. 26 at Chicago.

"Maybe it's one night (Aubin) would like to have over," Brooks said. "How can you single any one person out on a night like this? You've just got to blanket everybody."

Kariya put a back-hander past Skudra at 5:31 of the third period for his 28th goal and Tony Hrkac scored on a power play at 15:16. Oleg Tverdovsky had four assists.

Jagr, the NHL's leading scorer with 75 points, was held scoreless for the seventh time in 44 games.

The Mighty Ducks, who ended an 0-6-1 road streak, won for the first time at Pittsburgh where they had been 0-3-2.

After the game, the Mighty Ducks took one of the Penguins with them, acquiring forward Kip Miller for unspecified considerations.

Miller, who used to play on Pittsburgh's No. 1 line, has had an unproductive season this year with only four goals and 19 points in 44 games.
