KANATA, Ontario (AP) -- The Ottawa Senators set a franchise record for goals in a season Sunday with a 5-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on the final night of the regular season.

Jason York, Magnus Arvedson, Shaun Van Allen, Radek Bonk and Marian Hossa, with an empty-net goal, struck for the winners. Ottawa finished the schedule with 244 goals, surpassing last year's total of 239.

Goaltender Jani Hurme earned a win in his NHL debut, turning aside 17 shots.

Stan Drulia and Jaroslav Svejkovsky got third-period goals for Tampa Bay.

The Senators finished second in the Northeast Division with 95 points, five behind their opening-round playoff opponent, Toronto.

The regular-season finale had a preseason feel to it, with Ottawa sitting out captain Daniel Alfredsson and defenseman Sami Salo, and with Hurme in goal. Rookie Dieter Kochan was in Tampa Bay's net.

The injury-riddled Lightning, the league's most penalized team, finished fourth in the Southeast Division. With 12 rookies on their active roster, they placed ahead of only expansion Atlanta in the overall standings.

York opened the scoring unassisted on Ottawa's first shot 2:35 into the contest. The defenseman beat Kochan to the glove side from the top of the right faceoff circle.

Arvedson raced down the slot alone to score his second goal in as many games since returning from a 34-game layoff. Arvedson, last season's runner-up for the Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward, underwent abdominal surgery Jan. 22 after he was checked into an open gate.

Arvedson left in the middle period after he was leveled by Cory Sarich, who was penalized for elbowing. Team officials said Arvedson was winded on the play.

Van Allen cranked another shot past Kochan from the slot in the second period.

Bonk wheeled in front of Kochan to give Ottawa a 4-0 lead with his 23rd goal of the season later in the period.

Drulia spoiled Hurme's shutout midway through the third period, catching Hurme moving the wrong way. Svejkovsky one-timed Fredrik Modin's backhand pass.

Hossa scored his 29th goal into an empty net with 1:20 remaining for his first goal in 11 games.
