BOSTON (AP) -- The Edmonton Oilers know that there is no place like home.

Todd Marchant scored with 6:01 left in the second period, and Bill Ranford made 35 saves as the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins
skated to a 2-2 tie Thursday night.
The Oilers are struggling to win on the road, having compiled a
1-11-3 record this season. Edmonton is 0-2-1 on its current
six-game road trip.
"Everybody has to go through a stretch like we have on the
road," said Oilers coach Kevin Lowe. "We are fortunate because we
have young legs."
Marchant scored his third goal of the season, after he took a
pass from Ryan Smyth and tucked the puck past Bruins goaltender
Byron Dafoe.
"The goal was unfortunate, because we had the puck behind the
net," Dafoe said. "Smyth made a quick pass to the slot and
Marchant put it through my legs."
Anson Carter had Boston's best chance to win in overtime, but
Ranford made a glove save to preserve the tie.
The Bruins are now winless in their last five games and are
0-4-1 in their last five at home.
"Two months ago we were getting chances, but couldn't score and
we panicked," said Bruins coach Pat Burns. "Now we are getting
chances, but not the points."
Edmonton is now 0-5-7 in overtime games, with all five losses
coming on the road.
Jason Allison gave Boston a 1-0 lead, when he scored a
power-play goal off a Dave Andreychuk pass at 15:41 of the first
period.
Doug Weight tied the game 25 seconds into the second period,
when his slap shot went over the shoulder of Dafoe, who made 19
saves.
Boston took a 2-1 lead just under a minute later when Joe Murphy
knocked in his own rebound past Ranford, who is still winless this
season. Murphy was playing in only his second game as a member of
the Bruins, after signing as a free-agent back in early November.
"It was very tough regrouping after we were embarrassed against
Chicago," said Bruins forward Joe Thornton. "I wish we could have
played Sunday or Monday instead of waiting four days."
The Bruins went 1-for-7 on the power play and were not able to capitalize on several scoring opportunities.
"Any time you stop the Bruins' power plays like we did, you've
done your job," Ranford said. "I made a couple of good saves and a couple of lucky ones."
Alexander Selivanov added two assists, and continues to lead the
Oilers in scoring with 27 points. Bill Guerin, Edmonton's leading
scorer from the 1998-99 season, missed the game with the flu.
