OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ Stephane Matteau scored 3:09 into overtime Friday night as the San Jose Sharks won their preseason opener 4-3 over the Phoenix Coyotes. Matteau redirected a shot by Greg Andrusak from just inside the blue line. Phoenix's Landon Wilson scored with 1:09 remaining in regulation to send the match into overtime. Jim Montgomery had two goals for the Sharks before a crowd of 4,289 in the 19,596-seat New Arena, where the Golden State Warriors also play. Phoenix (0-2-0) finally scored after 87 minutes of exhibition hockey when Jean-Guy Trudel found the net. Ryan Lauzon scored the Coyote's second goal. Wilson knotted the score after Wyatt Smith won the puck from behind the net and tossed it into a crowd at the top of the crease. Montgomery's first goal came at 2:37 of the first period. His second, a slap shot from the top of the face-off circle, beat the buzzer at the end of the second period. Brad Stuart added a power-play goal in the opening minutes of the second period. The Sharks (1-0-0) outshot the Coyotes 35 to 19.
