Fun all around for Hockey Heroes

DENVER -- Glenn Anderson won six Stanley Cup titles with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers. Suffice to say, his celebration was more subdued Saturday night.

Referee Jim Christison informs NHL Heroes of Hockey goalie Darren Pang that he didn't meet certain requirements for Saturday's Heroes of Hockey Game.

Anderson capped a spirited alumni game by scoring the goal that gave the NHL Heroes of Hockey a 3-2 victory over a team composed of former Quebec Nordiques-Colorado Avalanche players.

After his goal, Anderson flashed a salute to each side of the arena.

The game, which featured 40 former players, was part of NHL All-Star weekend at the Pepsi Center. It preceded the NHL SuperSkills competition.

In a made-for-entertainment event, former Boston Bruins forward Terry O'Reilly tied the game at 2 when he beat Jacques Cloutier between the legs on a penalty shot.

The shot came after Wilf Paiement drew a penalty for wearing a false number on his sweater.

Earlier in the game, Darren Pang, an undersized goalie-turned-broadcaster, was penalized for being too short to play in goal. Pang stopped the ensuing penalty shot by Barry Beck, and had eight saves in a scoreless first period.

Rick Middleton, a three-time All-Star for Boston in the 1980s, had the other goal for the NHL Heroes.

Michel Goulet, who holds the Quebec-Colorado franchise record with 548 career goals, and Dave Hannan, who was on Colorado's Stanley Cup team in 1996, scored for the Colorado team.
