ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquired Tony Hrkac and Dean Malkoc in a trade Friday that sent Ted Drury to the New York Islanders.
Hrkac, a 33-year-old center, has two assists in seven games with the Islanders after signing as a free agent last summer. He played in 69 games last season for the NHL champion Dallas Stars, with 13 goals and 14 assists. He added two assists in five playoff games. A second-round draft pick by St. Louis in the 1984 NHL entry draft, Hrkac has 252 career points. Drury, 28, played 11 games for the Mighty Ducks this season, with one goal and one assist. Acquired in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in 1996, the center appeared in 232 games for Anaheim, with 47 points and 225 penalty minutes. Drury, a native of Connecticut, played college hockey at Harvard. His younger brother Chris was the NHL's rookie of the year in 1998-99. Malkoc, 29, is playing for the Chicago Wolves of the IHL, with one point in 11 games this season. Hrkac will report to the Mighty Ducks immediately, and Malkoc will remain with the Chicago Wolves. |
