SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Ronald Cerritos scored twice and assisted on another goal and Eddie Lewis had a goal and three assists to lead the San Jose Clash to a 6-1 victory over the Miami Fusion on Sunday. Cerritos started the scoring in the 35th minute and the Clash (16-12) went up 2-0 Dario Brose's goal with seven seconds left in the first half. Lewis made it 3-0 just three minutes into the second half, stealing the ball from Miami's Pablo Mastroeni outside the left edge of the penalty area and dribbling past defender Jeff Bilyk. Cerritos scored three minutes later, and the Fusion (11-18) made it 4-1 on a goal soon after from Henry Gutierrez. Mauricio Wright and Jair scored the other goals for the Clash. "We've played well enough to win like that before this season," interim coach Jorge Espinoza said after the team's first game under his leadership. "We were just a little unfortunate not to finish some chances in some of those earlier games, and we finished our chances today." Lothar Oslander will become coach of the Clash later this year. | ALSO SEE Soccer Scoreboard AUDIO/VIDEO Eddie Lewis adds an insurance goal for the Clash. avi: 707 k RealVideo: 56.6 | ISDN Henry Gutierrez's goal puts Miami on the board. avi: 836 k RealVideo: 56.6 | ISDN |
