FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- The New England Revolution kept their flickering playoff hopes alive Saturday night with a 2-1 victory over the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. A first-half goal by Joe-Max Moore and a second-half goal by Jeff Daicher gave New England only its second victory in regulation in the past 14 matches. The game was the Revolution's first since goalie-coach Walter Zenga was fired on Thursday. Steve Nicol -- a former star on the Scottish national team -- replaced Zenga as coach. New England (11-20) moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of Miami. New England has one match remaining, while Miami has two, in the bid for the fourth and final playoff berth. Moore scored his 14th goal, a career-high, at 23:46 of the first half. Daicher scored the game-winner on a 27-yard drive at 52:48, his first goal in nine matches since being traded to New England from San Jose. Lawrence Lozzeno scored for the MetroStars (7-25) off a corner kick by Mark Chung at 69:21. It was the eighth straight 2-1 game that the MetroStars have played, winning just two.
