PASADENA, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy scored two unanswered goals in the second half to rebound from a 2-0 halftime deficit and tie the visiting New England Revolution, 2-2, at the Rose Bowl.

Cobi Jones and Mauricio Cienfuegos scored seven minutes apart as the Galaxy moved one point ahead of the Kansas City Wizards in the Western Division.

New England started out strong in its third of four consecutive road contests to open the season, scoring twice in the final 11 minutes of the first half to take a 2-0 halftime lead. Just nine minutes after Imad Baba hit the left post on a point-blank shot. It was Los Angeles goalkeeper Kevin Hartman's muffed clearance of Baba's header that found its way to Leonel Alvarez, who buried an 18-yard blast for the Revolution's first goal.

Alvarez' fourth career MLS goal was followed by Wolde Harris' first tally in a New England uniform. In the 43rd minute, Harris ran on to a deft through ball by playmaker Mauricio Ramos and slotted a shot past Hartman for his 27th career MLS goal.

After Ted Chronopoulos' offering hit the post in the 47th minute, the Revolution would manage just three more shots in the remaining 55 minutes, while Los Angeles pulled the trigger on 14 additional shots.

Jones moved into the MLS scoring lead with his fourth goal of the season, one point ahead of Tampa Bay's Raul Diaz Arce. Taking a pass from Roy Myers, Jones dribbled deep into the box, where his initial offering was snuffed by New England goalkeeper Jeff Causey. However, the rebound squirmed toward the goal line, where Jones beat Causey to the ball and buried the opportunity to cut the Revolution's lead to one.

Seven minutes later, Mauricio Cienfuegos scored what could be the 2000 MLS Goal of the Year when his 66th-minute bicycle kick sailed over an outstretched Causey to knot the score at 2-2.

Galaxy defender Ezra Hendrickson's cross from the right side popped up into the box after it was deflected by a Revolution defender. Cienfuegos launched himself in the air for a bicycle kick, which went to the far post and was nearly pinned against the crossbar by a sprawling Causey before landing across the goal line.

Several cards late in the suddenly physical game forced two New England players out of next weekend's trip to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Ramos received his third caution in as many games, forcing him to serve a one-game suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, while Ivan McKinley received his second yellow of the game when he threw Roy Myers to the ground in the 77th minute.

McKinley's red card came after Myers attempted to kick the ball out of Causey's hands when the Revolution 'keeper tried to punt the ball.
