CHICAGO (AP) -- Hristo Stoitchkov's goal in the 48th minute snapped Miami goalkeeper Jeff Cassar's shutout streak at a club-record 310 minutes as the Chicago Fire beat the Fusion 1-0 on Saturday night.
Diego Gutierrez started the play, passing to Ante Razov, who
moved it on to Stoitchkov at the far post.
Stoitchkov just missed a second goal in the 82nd minute when his
shot from the right side of the penalty box missed by inches.
Chicago goalkeeper Zach Thornton made his first start of the season after missing the four games because of a calf injury.
Chicago improved to 2-3, and Miami dropped to 1-1-3.
