DENVER (AP) -- Steve Jolley, Tab Ramos and Adolfo Valencia scored goals as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Mike Ammann made eight saves to help the MetroStars
improve to 8-7-1 with their sixth victory in their last eight
games. Colorado dropped to 7-9-1.
Jolley opened the scoring in the ninth minute to end Colorado
goalkeeper Adin Brown's 204-minute shutout streak. Ramos made it
2-0 in the 43rd minute, and Valencia scored in the 48th.
Colorado's Matthew Okoh scored his first MLS goal in the 82nd
minute.
Colorado's Anders Limpar was wide left on a penalty kick in the
72nd minute, the third straight missed penalty kick for the team.
Three Rapids players left the game with injuries: Henry Zambrano
with a strained left calf, Paul Bravo with a broken toe on his left
foot and David Vaudreuil with a strained right shoulder.
