FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Jim Rooney scored on a header in
the second half as the Miami Fusion rallied to beat the New England
Revolution 2-1 Tuesday.
Rooney scored the game-winner in the 55th minute as he slid
across the goal in front of New England goalkeeper Jeff Causey, and
headed a short corner kick by Diego Serna. It was Rooney's fourth
goal of the season.
New England took a 1-0 lead in the third minute on a goal by
Wolde Harris, who converted a pass from John Harkes.
Miami tied it in the 30th minute when Henry Gutierrez converted
a penalty kick. It was the first successful penalty kick in four
attempts against Causey this season.
An apparent tying goal for the Revolution in the 90th minute was
disallowed by referee Sergio Vega when he ruled that an own goal by
the Fusion's Pablo Mastroeni was a result of the Revolution's
Mauricio Wright pushing Mastroeni from behind.
