COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Dante Washington and Brian West scored two goals apiece to lead Columbus over New England 4-1 Wednesday night.
The Crew beat the Revolution for the sixth straight time and are 15-3 against New England.
Washington, who has 13 goals this season, scored twice within
six minutes. His first goal came in the 43rd minute on an assist
from Robert Warzycha. The second, off a Jeff Cunningham assist, it
2-0 in the 49th. It was his fourth two-goal game of the season.
West, who recorded the first two-goal game of his career, scored
his fifth goal of the season in the 74th from John Wilmar Perez. A
penalty kick by John Harkes in the 80th made it 3-1. West closed
the scoring in the 89th off a pass from Roland Aguilera.
The Crew (8-10-4) moved one point ahead of Dallas into third
place in the Central Division. New England (7-8-5) remained second
in the East.
The Crew led 14-11 in total shots and 8-2 in shots on goal. New
England goalkeeper Jeff Causey made four saves, while Mark
Dougherty of Columbus had to stop just one shot.
