FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) Alex Pineda Chacon scored his
league-leading fourth goal of the season to lead the Miami Fusion
to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Miami took a 1-0 lead on an own goal at the 39th minute.
Fusion midfielder Tyrone Marshall's crossing pass into the
Earthquakes goal area was cleared by defender Zak Ibsen. But
Ibsen's clearing attempt caromed off teammate Troy Dayak and into
the San Jose goal.
Pineda Chacon gave the Fusion a 2-0 lead in the 45th minute.
Jim Rooney's crossing pass bounced off Ibsen and Dayak to an
open Chacon, who put an 8-yard shot past goalie Joe Cannon.
Ian Russell's goal at the 51st minute pulled the Earthquakes
within a goal.
Manuel Lagos sent a long pass to Dwayne DeRosario deep down the
right wing. DeRosario centered to Russell, who scored on a 12-yard
shot.
