TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Diego Serna scored a pair of second-half goals to cap a 4-0 victory for the Miami Fusion over the Tampa Bay Mutiny on Saturday night.
Miami (7-1-1) took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by midfielders Jim Rooney and Chris Henderson. Serna added goals in the 67th and 89th minutes.
The league-leading Fusion defense, meanwhile, has allowed only one goal in its past five games.
Miami extended its unbeaten streak to a franchise-record six matches. Tampa Bay (2-6-1), without four starters, is winless in its last six.
Among the missing was Mutiny leading scorer Mamadou Diallo,
serving the third of a four-game suspension. All-Star midfielder
Steve Ralston also sat out with his first career red card.
Tampa Bay hasn't scored without benefit of a penalty kick since
Diallo had all four goals in a 4-4 draw against Los Angeles on May
9.
Mutiny captain Carlos Valderrama misfired on a penalty kick in
the 50th minute that would have cut the deficit to 2-1.
