PASADENA, Calif. (AP) _ Defender Erza Hendrickson scored in the
77th minute and Cobi Jones added an insurance goal 11 minutes later
as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the New England Revolution 2-0
Saturday night.
Goalkeeper Matt Reis made four saves before an announced crowd
of 12,249 at the Rose Bowl for his second consecutive shutout as
the Galaxy ended a four-match winless streak to improve to 4-3-2.
Hendrickson, a defender who misfired on three first-half scoring
opportunities, put an 8-yard shot past New England goalkeeper
Juergen Sommer for his second goal of the season. Jones scored on a
rebound off Simon Elliotts shot for his third goal of the season.
The Galaxy led 19-6 in shots and 8-4 in shots on goal. Sommer
made six saves, all in the second half, as the Revolution's (3-7)
three-match winning streak ended.
