TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Jason Kreis scored in the 15th minute as the Dallas Burn beat the Tampa Bay Mutiny 1-0 Wednesday night.
Kreis scored from 15 yards off a free kick pass by Oscar Pareja. The goal came in a heavy rain that lasted most of the first half. A light rain persisted throughout the second half.
Tampa Bay (2-8-1), despite having Carlos Valderrama and Mamadou Diallo back in the lineup after completing league-imposed suspensions, dropped its fifth straight game.
The Mutiny, winless in seven home games (0-5-2) dating back to last Aug. 16, lost Eric Quill to a right hamstring injury in the 33rd minute.
Dallas (4-5-1) scored the game's first goal for just the third
time this season. The Burn have won all three times.
Burn goalkeeper Matt Jordan recorded his fourth shutout of the
season. He made a key save on Diallo during second-half injury
time.
Jorge Rodriguez returned to the Dallas lineup after missing two
games while playing for the El Salvador national team. Lubos Kubik
missed his third straight game with a strained left calf.
The inclement weather limited the crowd to just 5,384.
