FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Diego Serna and Alex Pineda Chacon
each scored two goals, leading the Miami Fusion to a 5-1 victory
over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
Miami (10-1-1) won its sixth straight game and extended its home
winning streak to nine games, matching the MLS record. The Fusion
share the record for consecutive home victories with Colorado,
Columbus and Los Angeles.
The victory avenged Miami's only loss of the season, a 2-1
setback at Kansas City on April 18.
Chacon and Serna have each scored eight goals this season.
Miami scored one goal in the first half and four in the second.
Serna began the second-half scoring spree with a goal in the
49th minute.
Chacon dribbled inside the penalty box area, passed to Jim
Rooney, who delivered a one-touch feed to an open Serna. Serna
dribbled inside the 6-yard box and flicked a shot past Wizards
goalkeeper Tony Meola.
Chacon's pass deflected off Serna inside the penalty box. Preki
picked up the loose ball and scored in the 66th minute to give
Miami a 3-0 lead.
Chacon, who scored in the 22nd minute, had his second goal in
the 83rd minute, scoring from 12 yards out past Wizards reserve
goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi.
Serna followed six minutes later with an uncontested run on
goal. He scored from inside the 6-yard box.
Kansas City's only goal came on Matt McKeon's penalty kick at
the 70th minute. Miami's Tyrone Marshall fouled Francisco Gomez
inside the penalty box, giving Kansas City its best scoring
opportunity of the match.
