KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Francisco Gomez and Chris Brown scored in a five-minute span in the first half as Kansas City Wizards snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Mutiny on Saturday night.
Gomez split the Tampa Bay (3-11-1) defense, headed the ball down, and sent a volley past goalkeeper Adin Brown in the 11th minute.
In the 16th minute, Chris Brown accepted a cross from Andrew
Gregor and scored on a header. The goal was Brown's fourth of the
season.
Matt McKeon pushed the Wizards' lead to three goals in the 70th
minute with a 40-yard run down the left side that ended with the
midfielder putting the ball under a diving Brown.
Bo Oshoniyi, Kansas City's backup goalkeeper, earned his first
victory since replacing Tony Meola, who is sidelined for two months
because of abdominal surgery.
Kansas City improved to 6-8-1.
